Wonder Woman 1984 Theory: Steve Trevor Will Be The Villain

DC Fandome was an amazing event packed with brand new DC exclusives, and one of the biggest was the release of the new Wonder Woman 1984 trailer. Though the trailer seemed to set up an epic showdown between Diana and the combined forces of Maxwell Lord and Barbara Minerva, aka Cheetah, the biggest talking point for the film is that Steve Trevor is back! And that’s awesome! The chemistry that Steve and Diana showed in the first Wonder Woman movie was a highlight of the film and the sequel looks to expand on their relationship by reversing their roles, now making Steve the one who doesn’t understand the new world around him. And while that’s a fun dynamic, we think there’s actually a bigger twist coming. Although Maxwell Lord and Cheetah seem to have a firm handle on the villain department for the movie, we think there’s actually a possibility that Steve Trevor is the true Big Bad of the Wonder Woman sequel.

How could this possibly be? Well today’s video will break down two separate scenarios that could feasibly play out that would make Steve the ultimate bad guy. We’ll go into how his return might come with a complete change to his character as a consequence to his resurrection, as well as talking about he actually might be another god in disguise. Either way, we’ll talk about how revealing Steve Trevor to be the villain would be the perfect thing to really challenge and change Diana, as well as how that would relate to the continuity of the entire DCEU so far.
